When a person learns to read an Aura, it is important for the individual to understand the function of the chakras in order to determine where any blocks are coming from within the body. In addition, learning about chakras will help a person achieve higher states of meditation. It is important to remember that the colors of the chakras have no effect on the aura itself. However, the state of the energy of the chakra does. If there is a block in the chakras it will show up within the aura. The aura contains information that can reveal a persons physical, mental, intellectual, and spiritually state of being.
The human body has inner centers of energy that are located in particular areas close to the body that are called chakras. These chakras absorb and distribute energy throughout the human body in order to keep it balanced or stabilized. When chi or energy runs in balance through the body the chakras spin. When there are blocks within the body energy will not filter through the body correctly causing particular chakras to slow down or not spin in order to distribute the energy correctly. Keep in mind, when there is blocks within the chakra a person may feel physical or emotional health problems.
According to the Encyclopedic Psychic Dictionary by June G. Bletzer, PH. D., the chakra system is an invisible, inter-dimensional transducing system, running up and down the spine, being directed by mans thoughts; has seven concentrated centers of energy from the base of the spine to the crown of the head which convert cosmic energy into the body energy, and vice versa; transcends the constraints of time and space; connects man to the universe making man and the universe all one system.
The chakras have been studied for thousands o f years in many cultures. They have been used for methods in healing such as acupuncture and touch healing. The chakras affect a persons spiritual growth and development.
Chakra is a Sanskrit word that means wheel of light. (Sanskrit is an ancient Indic Language that is the Language of Hinduism and the Vedas and the classical literary language of India. There are seven major chakras with the etheric body, they appear as wheel-like vortices (energy centers) of pure energy. Chakras lie along the spine, and through them a persons spirit can communicate with the energy of the universe.
The root/base chakra is located at the base of a persons spine, and is connected to the earth element of the body. This chakra is where a person grounds their energy from the earth. This area is usually red in color. The parts of the body it is linked t are the bones, spinal column, teeth, nails, kidneys, and the adrenal glands. This chakra affects the prostate area of the male, and the uterus of the female. This chakra represents the lowest part of the human consciousness, and the seat of the Kundalini (a Sanskrit word kund means to burn. Kunda means to coil or to spiral.) Kundalini is an intelligent, cosmic, invisible energy essential to life.

According to Dr. Caroline Myss, the root chakra is connected to our sociological beliefs and influences within our society, groups, family, and religion.
The sacral or spleen chakra is located mid way between the belly button and the genitals and its color is orange. It is identified with the water element. It is linked to the bladder and reproductive system. It provides a fluid of energy fluid throughout the body. When this chakra is blocked it forced the physical and emotional energies to become unstable. This chakra absorbs the vitality from the sun and disperses it throughout the body.

The solar plexus chakra is often called the stomach chakra that is located directly behind the stomach and is yellow in color. It is identified with the fire element. It also is related to a persons stomach, gall bladder, pancreas, diaphragm, liver, part of the nervous system, and large intestines. This chakra is considered to be in control of monitoring the flow of energy throughout the body. This area is also connected to a persons emotions that link them to the universe. This area is a psychic center that connects a person to deep feelings and touch. This area is also where ectoplasm comes from during physical mediumship trumpet work.
Location: just under the ribcage, at the diaphragm

Function: regulates the bodys life force energy, mental activity, self-empowerment, and clairsentience abilities.

According to Dr. Caroline Myss, this chakra connects a person to their self esteem, survival, intuition, fear, center of ethics, and negotiation. These three charkas are where disease is formed. They are connected to physical and survival realities in life, and authority over people. Where one feels more is better, you have to see it to believe it. What have I done to deserve this?
The heart chakra is located halfway up the spine, level with the breastbone. It is related to the element of air. It is green in color. It affects the heart, blood, and its systems, circulation, and the thymus. It also affects a persons mobility, tenderness and community or cultural involvement. This is a very important chakra because it connects a person to love. This is the center for compassion, and it separates a persons high and low states of consciousness. A person cant due message work through spirit unless this center is completely open.

Function: connection with all things, oneness, caring, affinity, love, self-esteem, healing, and sensitivity for the environment.

Sense: touch
According to Dr. Caroline Myss, the heart chakra is connected to love, forgiveness of others and oneself, letting go, how a person feels about them selves, a center for power over the body, relationships, envy, contentment, and jealousy.
The throat chakra is located at the level of the base of the throat and it is blue in color. It affects a persons communication. It also is connected to clairaudience. It is referred to as the philosophical chakra and has to do with a persons understanding and evaluation of large concepts. This center is connected to the element of the ether. This chakra affects a persons vocalization, bronchial, lungs, and thyroid/parathyroid. It affects the medulla oblongata. It also is the center of creativity, and vocal expression. This chakra is asexual, psychic center.

The Brow or third eye chakra is known as the third eye chakra. It is indigo in color. It is centered in the forehead above the eyebrows. This center is connected to the element of electrical or telepathic energy. It holds the energy of intuition, and connects a person to their spiritual self, and is connected to clairvoyant work. It affects a persons lower brain, ears, mouth, and nose, the left eye and the pineal gland. It also affects the nervous system.

The soul chakra is located above the crown chakra about eight centimeters above the head and is white in color. Its energy is absorbed into the physical body through the crown and the third eye or brow chakra. It helps to keep a persons soul nourished. This chakra cant be blocked, but can be cut off through negative or hateful energies.
The divine chakra is located above the soul chakra. It is gold in color. It affects a persons connection to the whole or higher self, and creation. When we pass into spirit this chakra expands and acts as a energy pathway for spirit consciousness.
The Three Minor Chakras
The foot chakra is brown in color. It is connected to a persons logical mind and overall energy. It affects the regulation of energy flow from the body to the outer layers of the aura.
The knee Chakra is maroon in color. It is located at the back of the knee. It affects the flow of energy, and is related to the strength of the muscles in the neck and shoulders.
The hand chakra is yellow in color. It is located in the center of the palm. It affects a persons creative learning and its expression. It also affects healing.
